Re: Beverly, Salem
I learned my lesson about leaving the fly rod at home already...

Re: Beverly, Salem
Yesterday I had agreed with a friend that we were in the summer doldrums. Too many days with nothing going on at all. Took an early ride this morning with a cup of coffee and almost left the rod at home. Ran into one of the biggest surface feeds I've seen in a very long time. Beverly/Salem. Plenty of keeper size fish and they were up for at least an hour. The smallest fish I caught was int he low 20's. Finicky! I threw all kinds of things at the boils with no takes. A good samaritan took pity on me and I owe the morning to Greg B who gave me a hand-tied fly which was right on the money. Thanks !!!!

Is there a chance you could describe the fly and whether you think they were feeding on krill or herring?
I hope to get out this week in the wee hours.
Thanks in advance,
BD

Cruised the coast tonight along Beverly (Prince Street area) toward Hospital Light. It was some of the most amazing surface action I have ever seen. People were on the shore watching as the fish were right up on the beach. My son caught a 31" Striper on his first cast. Easy fishing from the Shore but the fish don't discriminate between "public and private" beaches.
He was using a spinning rod with a small silver herring ( jig ) lure. A white clouser might be a good starting point for the fly guys.
So much for the doldrums.

brackenberry beach in beverly would be a good bet to try and get into the action from shore. its public as far as i know, but parking is difficult.

Really good rocks fishing outside Manchester the past few days. Lots of bait and plenty of linesiders 30" ++. I hear of Blues in the mix but I've been lucky in that department so far.

Is the run of bass and blues hitting any of the local beach fronts or is it something you saw from a boat . I fish from shore 99.9percent of the time. Caught a blitz going off about two weeks ago at white beach.Nothing happening since that night .TerryW wrote:IT's On! Fall run started this past friday. Godd luck this fall guys.
